About PayCal Australia
PayCal Australia is a free set of Australian pay, tax and personal finance calculators. It is built and run by Cthroo, an independent developer. There is no sign-up and no charge.
Who runs PayCal
Cthroo is the developer and operator of PayCal. That covers the calculators, the yearly rate updates, the guides and the answers to the messages people send in. PayCal is independent. It is not part of, or endorsed by, the Australian Taxation Office, the Fair Work Ombudsman or any other government agency.
How the figures are checked
- Tax rates, thresholds and other rules come from primary sources such as the ATO, the Federal Register of Legislation, StudyAssist and state revenue offices.
- The rate-sensitive calculators were last checked on . They are reviewed again when new financial-year rates are published each July.
- Formulas are covered by automated tests at tax thresholds and rounding boundaries.
The methodology page lists the sources and the limits of each estimate. Results are general estimates, not tax, legal or financial advice. For a personal position, check with the relevant agency or a qualified adviser.
How PayCal is funded
PayCal is free to use. These pay for hosting and development:
- Google AdSense advertising shown on the site.
- Readers who choose to support the site on Ko-fi.
- Partner listings, including CleverSlip and CleverInvo. These are marked on the recommended tools page, which explains how partner links work.
Advertisers and partners have no say in calculator results or in what the guides say.
Your data
